- Refrigerator (Safest for Hygiene): Move the mouse from the freezer to the refrigerator 24 hours before feeding, then warm it in warm water just before serving.
Crucial Tips
- NEVER use a microwave: Microwaving creates hot spots that can burn the snake or explode the mouse, and it cooks the carcass, making it unappealing.
- Verify Warmth: Ensure the mouse is fully thawed and warm to the touch (approx. 36−37∘C36 minus 37 raised to the composed with power C 36−37∘C or 98∘F98 raised to the composed with power F 98∘F) to mimic live prey, which helps with feeding
- Use Tongs: Always use feeding tongs to present the prey, ensuring safety for both you and the snake.
- Safety Check: If the mouse is still frozen in the center, replace the water with fresh hot water and continue soaking.
